k1 Yarns has been supplying beautiful and unusual yarns to knitters and crocheters in Scotland since 2005. Owner, Katharine Walker, is a passionate knitter and has an obsession with seeking out the most beautiful and unique yarns for knitters and crocheters who crave something different. Our Edinburgh shop stocks a wide range of unique Scottish yarns. Katharine loves yarns from small independent producers and over the past few years has worked with UK artisans such as Fyberspates to introduce many new yarns never before available in Scotland. For the truly uncommon, Katharine has also sought out yarns from farther a field, such as our very unusual linen paper yarns, silk, wool and stainless steel blends and new copper yarns from Japan. To round out the selection, k1 also carries the best of popular well known brands.

Our shop is located at 89 West Bow in Edinburgh’s Old Town, in between the Grassmarket and the Royal Mile on Edinburgh’s most photographed street! We have much to offer in this shop, including in-store knitting classes and cozy comfy chairs to just curl up in and knit away. Drop by and unwind in a laid back atmosphere where you can sit and plan your next project, or just knit and chat!
